CANTEEN COOKIES (recipe from my Judy Baker)

These are some great cookies. The baking process is in 2 steps.

INGREDIENTS:
1) 1/2 Cup butter
2) 1/2 teaspoon salt
3) 1 1/2 Cups Brown Sugar
4) 1 Cups sifted all-purpose white flour

5) 1 teasoon Vanilla
6) 2 eggs, beaten
7) 2 Tablespoons flour
8) 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
9) 1 1/2 Cups shredded coconut
10) 1 Cup walnuts, coarsely chopped

INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Combine butter and salt.
2) Add 1/2 Cups of Brown Sugarand cream well.
3) Add 1 Cup Flour and blend.
4) Spread in greased 8 inch by 12 inch pan.
5) Bake at 325 degrees for about 10 minutes (until firm).

6) Beat eggs.
7) Add remaining 1 Cup Brown Sugar and Vanilla.
8) Beat until thick and foamy.
9) Add 2 Tablespoons flour, baking powder, coconut, and nuts and blend well.
10) Spread over baked mixture.
11) Return to oven and bake about 25 minutes. 12) Cool and cut into small bars.
